The Challenge: 2014 Chinese Singing Competition

178 students attended the CCU International Students’ “Chinese singing contest” on November 20, 2014. The event took place from 6:00pm to 9:00pm on first floor of Fei-Hua building on CCU campus. It is offered as an opportunity for International Students to improve and practice their skills and proficiency of the Chinese language, aside from the general language teaching in class.

The contest is conducted by a first performance of one minute only, with songs that may be chosen individually. Not more than 14 groups or singers are allowed into the second round. The second round is split into two steps: the students are divided into seven groups of singers, forming competing pairs of whom the succeeding one will be selected to continue to the next level. The final phase follows, where the three winners out of seven will be selected after singing one song that they consider best suited to capture the audiences and the jury’s attention. The evening was organized in a professional way of procedure, starting with decorating the room, technical and practical rehearsals, the setup of the jury and admission desks, and so on. A moderator then lead the audience through the two parts of the evening, divided by a short intermission.

Awards have been given for:
