Christmas in Taiwan – how to celebrate it?

Christmas markets have been popular for centuries and many of them have kept their traditional concept until today. The oldest Christmas market is the Dresdner Striezelmarkt in Dresden, Germany who was found in 1434.

You think, Christmas in Europe is a bit too cold? In Taiwan, you can expect temperatures til 20 degree Celsius. And in Taiwan, there are also Christmas markets. Although there are not many Christians in Taiwan, Christmas is still well known. And in some places you can enjoy some western Christmas atmosphere.

At this point I want to introduce the Christmas market next to the Taipei 101 tower:

This Christmas market could be visited from December 1 to 25, 2016. The greatest difference between this market and others is, that this market had come from Straßbourg to Taipei. The idea of exporting the Straßbourg Christmas market isn`t new, but it is the first time for being conducted in Taipei. So, in the center of the capital, 15 wooden huts had been established. In those huts were sold a whole slew of Straßbourgian products. The market was located in Taipei’s Hsin-Yi district, just next to the Taipei 101 tower. This building is not just the highest building in Taiwan, but was the world’s tallest building until the year 2007. Its height is 507 meters, and as its façade is of green color, it also appears like a giant Christmas tree.

Of course, there are some more Christmas markets in Taipei, p. ex. at the Huashan 1914 Creative Park, on the Xindian plaza....

I think that through Christmas markets, we can learn more about Christmas in general. So, did you already decide how to celebrate Christmas?
